DR. HAMSA, PHD HOLDER

Dr. Hamsa (right) with FAO's Flavian

UN's Food And Agriculture agency, FAO had an input fair in Dodoma Tanzania for all the vulnerable farmers to get free vouchers and purchase supplies from Aground dealers in the region on the 5th of September 2012.

Our office was contracted to film the fair, conduct interviews with the FAO Representative Diane Tempelman and also the farmers. The shots were vast, the assignment precise and all was to be done in less than a week. We flew down to Dar and then had a road trip to Dodoma. That was when I met him, Dr. Hamsa Kondo (PhD holder- he adds) quite the character!
Dr. Hamsa Kondo was contracted by FAO too, to record the audio interviews to be submitted to radio stations and for the archives in FAO's main office in Rome. Dr. Hamsa was had words that could fill up a whole Library.

He entertained us during the whole trip to Dodoma, about 6 hours on the road that was. Entertained, most of the times but other times, he just crossed the professional line to being another naughty character, I know... not so cool. He told us that if he was in Kenya, he would be called a Landlord, but that Tanzania is not like that.

He took pride in his son who had a 'masters degree' and is a doctor... Daily, he would not fail to say, "Msomi mimi;” to mean that he is very learned. He takes academic achievement seriously. I must add that he is the Head of Department in UDOM University, Mass Communication. He gave us a lot to think on and ponder.

He spoke on academia, his studies abroad, his family, his wife, his students, his youth affairs and wait for it, his love life! I will not even get into it. All in all, Dr. Hamsa is quite a character. His family and friends must truly love him. He said that I would not forget him. For sure, I will not.

He goes down my diary lane, as a notable person I have met these years.

Cheers Daktari,

Nekoye
