PRESIDENT'S INAUGURATION (BTS)
The Director's team; Zoro, Kavila and Bob Nyanja |
It was such an honour to be present at Kenya's inauguration ceremony for the 4th president, His Excellency Hon. Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta. I have to make a toast to him, I did not see it coming. I was ambitious enough to vote for Peter Kenneth after ruling out Martha Karua from my dilemma. Wow, Mr. President, you have such a dedicated and loyal fan base. We, the film crew had to get to the Kasarani Stadium alongside the rest of the media at 5 am but we were not the only ones who got there at that time; the fans were there too!

Zoro from cinematics smiling? Huh... Someone must be doing something funny! |
They chanted words like, "Si uchawi, ni maombi!" I reckoned that it was a response to what fans of the opposing teams had implied or expressed. I must say that it was quite overwhelming. When I saw the white birds at 5.30am flying at the centre of the stadium, I smiled. I'm quite superstitious. The drizzling rain also warmed my heart... The rain symbolizes blessing to me. I thought that this was fate taking it's course and who are we to refute fate? I have not forgotten ICC and all the yada yada. I remember being quite vocal about it and wishing that people get what they deserve. But, looking at the big picture, I think everything worked out for the greater good. And who am I to talk on something without proof? Having been a victim of people's poor judgement, media un-researched critic and law enforcement uncouth- lack of professionalism, who am i to point fingers at people who are on the receiving end of allegations.

It was quite spiritual, almost a deja vu moment... The crowd energy was amazing. Save for some media pro's who came with the wrong energy. The politics behind why the private contractors were covering the event was totally blown out of proportion. Being part of the team, without getting too much in to the drama, I can tell you that we were to provide the live feed to the media houses. They were also free to cover the event on their own. There was no point in time when anyone had said that the media are not allowed to cover the event. I must add, shame on you whoever it is who started the whole drama. You knew what you were doing, bringing up some negative energy on a beautiful day. Thanks to Cinematics, Vivid Features, Extreme Media Solutions and Kenya Grips for coming together and working to make the event a success. The first inauguration filmed in HD, FYI...

I was also part of film crew at the South Sudan Inauguration in 2011. It was quite interesting as well and very overwhelming for the South Sudanese people as it was truly a birth of a nation. I salute Hon. Raila Odinga and his team, his service was good, he worked well with Hon. Kibaki's administration and he lost with honor. I salute you Raila, for your service, intelligence, honor and dignity.
We may make our wishes but God has the final word.

Nice, just not sure what the crowd was shouting was exactly that!
