LIFE AND LOVE
Yesterday was the last day of 2013. I wasn't so nervous, but something definitely got my moods on the down low… So you can imagine my excitement when I saw an online friend post a few photos that said "before the fashion show…" The photo had been posted 5 minutes earlier so I thought that I had enough time to get my ass to the show and enjoy myself at Peponi on the Lamu Island. See, I am at Manda Island which is literally 5 minutes away.
I rushed to the speed boat and was taken to Peponi. There was no sign of a fashion show going on, let alone a crowd. So I asked around and was told that the fashion show happened 2 days ago. WTF? Seriously my dear online buddies, these new technologies are here for us to share moments AS THEY HAPPEN… And when you share old stuff, you kinda need to add a hashtag #latepost #throwback #tb or something in those lines… Kindly, please… My goodness…
Anyway, out of the mishap, I was at Peponi and with no show to attend so I hit the bar… I thought it would be wise think through the years that have passed and especially the one that was about to end, 2013. You have to know that I was broken in 2012. Crushed and destroyed. When I made it to the 31st of December 2012, I wept as the new year ushered in. I wept. But this year has been far too kind for me to weep. It has been kinder, nicer, truer, gracious, elevating, prosperous and everything for anyone to be grateful for.

At Peponi I met an old friend who introduced me to 2 lovely sisters. He left and I started chatting with the ladies. When we shared our most horrifying moments in life, I could count the tears playing around in my eyes. I am not the only one to experience grief so hard. Women are strong, that's just how we are made. Whatgot me in this meeting is what one of the sisters told me; 'At least you have experienced LOVE' That statement made my stomach cringe. In a lifetime, if you experience it, then you can say that YOU HAVE LIVED. And boy have I lived… When love is all you have worth giving, the ride is worth the fall…
In 2014 I look forward to greater things… There is no limit to what you can dream, imagine or achieve. In the words of my boo, "HAKUNA KULALA MPAKA KUFA" a swahili statement that loosely translates to "theres on resting until death" Well, if you know me, you get the drift…
Happy 2014 buddies.
Sincerely,
Nekoye
