CHANGING TIDES

Spring chicken no more...

Hi readers, I surely didn’t have high hopes when I started this blog 3 years ago. I needed to vent and knowing that diaries have always had a habit of getting read, I thought I’d cut the chase and publish mine online. I needed it more before than I do now. But as you all know, the tides of time come with change.

A lot has changed since then and a lot will continue to change. Not knowing what the future holds is one of the great things I take pride in. It’s full of wonderful surprises (and in our president’s voice - H.E Hon. Kenyatta) and a lot of great possibilities.

Some things still remain to be true, the love for fashion is still here, the passion for marketing is still here, the fun in modeling is still here, the excitement for challenges is still here and the smile on my face is also going nowhere. My recent jaw dropping moment was when I got admitted for my graduate studies and I felt like I am doing things in the time that I was meant to do them. Before that, when I was in the tallest sky bar in Bangkok hanging out with the Bullet Production team, I fought back tears in reminiscence of the day’s activities which was a campaign for a pan African cosmetic brand. ‘How did I get here?’ I thought to myself…

I have embarked into an unknown land of public policy and management. I am thrilled to be in class full of carefully selected talents who have stood out in their different fields. What I have learnt in just 3 days is mind blowing- to me… It’s like being in a panel of highly critical, well informed and overly opinionated people. My way of presenting cases, communicating and backing up my beliefs are definitely going to have to change. I am not one to take the back seat and be a spectator, I live for the adrenaline.

I am grateful to the journey I have taken and the path in which I am walking on. It is an honour to be in this phase in life. Learning, growing and changing; BECOMING…

But aren’t we all?

Sincerely,

Nekoye
