NEW LEAF

Happy new year folks! Ever heard of the expression “Turn over a new leaf?” What do you suppose this means? How are you to do this when every step you take is carefully thought out and is deemed to be the best move at the time… Does this mean that you’d have to do an analysis of your collective actions to see that there might have been a couple of one sided views that led to conclusions that have brought forth unpleasant results?

Why must we always be right? Doesn’t the beauty of life lie within the knowledge that we are imperfect and respond selfishly, most of the times, to situations that face us? Which means that a common righteousness does not truly exist in a social setting? And does this mean that whenever we feel wronged we must therefore cut off all cords of association from the other party? In the fear that lost trust is irredeemable? Or must we remain optimistic and believe that there is goodness in every man? And that a temporal ill-will isn’t final?

This may be the year of turning over a new leaf, with no burning of bridges. Just taking a different course.

Sincerely,

Nekoye
