Donating some stuff to Teacher Mary at Nderi Sacred Heart

There is joy in giving. I had promised some of my good friends that I would have a house sale after I moved in to my new apartment. I even set aside the dresses I don’t wear anymore, shoes, bags, house stuff that are too small to sell… but I could not have predicted what I did today! I carried them all in my car and gave them out to the co-director at Sacred Heart Children's Home down in Nderi Town, Kikuyu County.

We have been filming the whole week and we started filming on this very location on Monday. Nderi Sacred Heart is a school and a home that was established in 1994. Having been founded in 1992, it took in it’s first 2 orphans in 1994. The Scared Heart founder and director Mr. Mangeere says that the home is open to orphans, children from poor families that cannot take care of costs to take care of the children and even street children.  We were filming there because they are beneficiaries of Feed My Starving Children’s MannaPack Rice which they receive for free from all the way from Minnesota.

The school is small and needs more sponsors to help them construct more classrooms and hostels for the children. When I saw where the boys slept, I was taken aback. The girls dormitory seemed warmer although it was small. Actually, the dormitories were classrooms that have been converted to being dormitories. I thought of the extra sheets I had in my house and all the clothes I was setting aside to have a mini-sale for my friends. I knew what I was going to do with them so I am so glad that I could help.
