RANT: PHONE ETIQUETTE

Leave a text after 2 missed calls unless it's an emergency!

I can’t seem to get my head around people who leave more than 10missed calls. Is that even legal? If it’s an emergency then it is understandable but calling to ask for a favour even if it’s promised does not warrant a badgering of up to 10missed calls! There is no emergency! Chill! I have a non-personal relationship with my phone. I use it when I (me, myself and I) need to use it. I receive calls, again when I (me, myself and I) want to. What is funny is that the case that has me this worked up just happened today.
It happened not when I refused to pick, but when I was asleep on my couch and my phone was charging in the bedroom. So this lady calls so many times and frustrates herself that she finally leaves an angry text. Darling, I have given you the contacts you need. I am directing your number to voicemail, you have earned it. Oh My God! This post is not to teach anyone about phone etiquette but to rant about bad mannered phone users. Having a phone doesn’t mean that I have to pick every calls that come through. I may be busy, I may be at a meeting, I may be responding to an email, I may not want to speak at that time, I may be sleeping, I may be driving, I may be having the phone on silent therefore I cannot hear the phone ring…

There are so many reasons why someone is not available on phone. I may be on a cruise or a safari for Christ’s sake! You simply cannot work yourself up because you think that because you spoke to me in the morning I should be attached to the phone and pick it up when you call. How about leave a message? After a second missed call, leave a message! How about that? Will it hurt? It’s the weekend; a time to relax.

Not so happy,

Nekoye
